Thanks so much for sharing the wisdom of turning worry into compassion, which our world needs so much these days. I appreciate the perspectives of Working less, which reminds me of an excellent podcast called: The Longtime Academy - looking at how time and work developed in the western world and how it needs to be reconsidered. I recommend it highly.

I'm curious to learn more about DACCS, because what I read seems to indicate that the process uses a lot of energy. How does that end up helping the carbon situation?

Thanks for doing this much needed work. You are a sign of hope for our world, and your newsletters provide so many ways of being good relatives on this good Earth. I'm looking forward to "10% Happier" which I just downloaded as an audiobook from my library.

Many blessings to you and all your readers!

Thanks so much for this! I needed it! Cool to see that you are going to my University city, Malmö, I would think of joining the event, if it wasn’t in Swedish. Have a good week!

Thanks for reading, Zoe! Hope we get a chance to cross paths in Malmö/Lund sometime soon! :)

I don't think many people think about how work contributes to the crisis but you have spelled it out perfectly. I have actually told my husband (a freelancer who commutes) to work longer three days a week and stay home the other four. That actually would give us time to be more successful in the garden where we grow our own food.

Thanks Sarah, glad we're on the same wavelength! Sounds like fewer commute days could be a win-win for your husband, I hope that works out and good luck in the garden this year. I'm holding off on starting seeds right now, I'm always too early because I'm eager to hurry spring along. :)

Yeah I always do that. I'm not going to start anything until March and won't plant anything until end of April to avoid late frost.

Wise words! I probably can't make myself wait that long but I'll try :)

Nice, thanks Becca! I will give those a listen! I discovered 10% Happier from my library's nonfiction available now list, and didn't know what it was about but got based on title alone. Cool there is lots more to dive into! :)

I love the auto reply! I’ve been wanting to set one up just to tell people that my replies may be slow but worry it’ll annoy folks. I’m a bit anti email! I have a line in my signature saying so but that is only visible when I send the email.

I hear you! Personally I like the email signatures that say something like "my working hours may be different than yours, I don't expect a reply out of hours". Email can be a struggle for me too. (Ironic that I send an email newsletter....) One part that is hard is the power dynamic/imbalance-- like the mismatched weight between the importance to sender and receiver. I try to model the email behavior I want, like prioritizing in person or phone calls (more fun/personal) where they will work instead, if I'm asking for something keeping emails as short and clear as possible to make them easy for overwhelmed people to say yes/reply... I know friends are enjoying Cal Newport's books like Slow Productivity and the one that's anti-email, I've listened to him on a podcast. More and more people seem to be looking for a better way to work together, hope we can keep sharing what works and creating a better culture!

100% I like the modelling the behaviour you want. For me, I prioritise different streams. For instance, my group knows that I'll respond to Slack messages on the day. But my colleagues know I'll be slow with email, so if they need me, they can try another way. The email charter is great too. I direct folks there: https://www.emailcharter.info
